Dual Width X16 Graphics Slot

Posted on

So in general, the x1 graphics card should work in any slot and if it doesn't it's likely a BIOS issue or limitation. In any case i thought the Nvidia GT520 was a x16 card so it's a little confusing what you are actually doing. Anyway, try the x1 card in the x16 slot as it's not clear that's where you inserted it.

This looks like the card is faulty, however I would check the following too first

Is the card in the right PCIe slot, some cards will work in x4 and x8 slots but if they are designed for x16 require it when the card is pushed beyond normal use - check this out, make sure the slow is x16.

Pcie 3.0 X16 Slot

Also make sure the PSU installed in these machines is at least the minimum 300W, while this is usually higher by default, do check it.

A quick look indicates this needs

Pcie X8 In X16 Slot

  • PCI Express-compliant motherboard with one dual-width x16 graphics slot
  • Minimum 350W or greater system power supply (with a minimum 12V current rating of 20A)
