The name is synonymous with style, elegance, excellence and discipline, as inherited from the Chandrabhanu Bharatalaya Academy in Melbourne which was established in 1973 and has produced hundreds of dancers. It is the oldest and finest of Indian dance schools in Australia.
Classes are conducted in an atmosphere of discipline as well as warmth. The Bharatalaya Dance Academy, Sydney embarked on it’s journey in 2006 is run by Apirami Kumaradevan, a disciple of Dr Chandrabhanu and Smt. Anandavalli.
All enrolled students are required to attend two classes a week. The year is divided into four terms corresponding to the NSW school terms. Special holiday classes, private remedial classes and repertoire classes for the arangetram are arranged separately.
